Implement compliant first aid programs and emergency action plans for workplaces.

OSHA requires employers to provide workers with a safe and healthy workplace that is reasonably free of occupational hazards. However, injuries can occur even at safe companies, and employers are required to provide medical and first aid personnel and supplies commensurate with the hazards of the workplace. The details of a workplace medical and first aid program are dependent on the circumstances of each workplace and employer, and in some cases the blood borne pathogens standard also applies. In these days of volatile weather conditions and disasters, employers also have obligations to implement Emergency Action Plans at many locations, and these may be detailed in terms of requirements and training to support implementation. This session will outline the basic OSHA requirements, best practices for employers to follow in the case of injury or disaster, and how to ensure safety for everyone onsite in emergency situations.
